Spring is a time for rebirth and renewal. It’s a time for making choices and taking inspired action that will lead us to feel more fulfilled in our day to day lives. Having taken the winter to reflect and imagine all the possibilities, spring calls upon to wake up and choose a path that excites us.

First and foremost, understand that your soul, your body, your own unique self, has value and is worthy of cultivation.  Do you know what makes you feel really jazzed? What lights you up like nothing else? What in life brings you joy and makes you feel at peace with the world? What beckons to you and says ‘come play, come explore’? There is a treasure inside of you waiting to be uncovered.

Maybe what brings you joy is spending time in nature. Maybe it’s sailing, or running. Maybe it’s playing music or listening to music. Maybe it’s volunteering. Clearly identify these joyous occasions where you feel unified and at peace with the world, where you feel that time literally disappears. That’s your soul whispering in your ear.

Feed your soul. Do these things often, and be completely present while you are doing them. Turn your phone on airplane mode and go fly your inner sky. Set a timer so you can be fully present. Designate time and space for these activities. Share them with people you love. Teach others and invite them into your special world. Prioritize your joy.

Meditation is a wonderful way to accomplish clear action and stay connected to joy.  It calms the rushing thoughts in our minds, allows us to find our center and to untangle messy situations in our heads in order to move forward with clarity and vigor.

The following is a guided meditation practice based on the wonderful poem “Awakening Now” by Danna Faulds. This springtime poem reminds us that we have the power to continually craft improved versions of who we are and how we show up in the world.

So pause. Create space. Sit in silence and listen to your breath for just 10 breaths. This is best digested after moving your body in some way, especially in the morning when energy is high. Try a brisk walk or brief yoga practice or quick bike ride alone. Then, read and reflect on awakening your passion and living your best self.

A Guided Meditation: “Awakening Now”

Why wait for your awakening?

Do you value your reasons for staying small

more than the light shining through the open door?

Forgive yourself,

Forgive yourself.

Now is the only time you have to be whole.

Now.

Now is the sole moment that exists to live in the light of your true nature.

Perfection is not a prerequisite for anything but pain.

Perfection is not a prerequisite for anything but pain.

Please, oh please, don’t continue to believe

in your stories of deficiency and failure.

This is the day of your awakening.

– Danna Faulds, “Awakening Now”

Spring helps us to build up speed and pressure; it’s our job to direct that energy toward what will ultimately bring us joy.  To be intentional with our thoughts, our actions; to stay connected to our true nature which is inclined toward joy.

Now is the sole moment that exists to live in the light of your true nature.

“Find your Bliss” is not a cliché. It’s a quest. Each of us has a spark inside that is looking for a place in the world to ignite into bliss. The world implores for you seek out joy and aliveness.

Awaken your passion for life and pursue that passion regularly in some way and you’ll be surprised how it energizes you and spills over into the rest of your activities. Like sugar stirred into tea, life gets a little sweeter. Day by day, season by season, year by year.

Seize this day! Let it be powerful. Let it be memorable. Let it be magic. Let it be beautiful.
