Reopening! Updates and Guidelines!

3 Months & 4 Days of hard-work and reflection…

This Saturday will be 3 months and 4 days since the State of Maryland asked us to close our facility and with this announcement, we embarked on another journey in the 19-year history of Evolutions.

I want to share some personal thoughts with you, that reflect on some of the process that I went through as an owner of a small business during the COVID pandemic. I was initially shocked, scared and concerned about the responsibility that I had to protect our amazing employees. Then I immediately realized that I also had a community of clients that have supported Evolutions for 19 years and they relied on our facility and staff, to support their health and wellness. Based on these realities, we had to make fast financial decisions and pivot to what we thought was best for the business and the people we serve. With tremendous support from the staff and the backing of an amazing community of clients, we moved from a physical facility to a virtual world.  The virtual world allowed us to keep our community together, at a time when we all needed each other. Behind the scenes, we scrambled to figure out technology, we researched ways to gain access to federal, state and local financial programs and we worked closely with our staff, to make sure they felt supported during this unprecedented time.

COVID Activities

Once we got flowing with our virtual world of classes and personal training, we started to focus on the future.  We did some renovations in the men’s locker room, initiated many projects from the old “to-do” list and started to prepare the facility for the reopening.

A couple weeks ago the State of MD gave us the approval to start offering programs outside and once again we jumped to the challenge (we even had the Mayor join us for our first spin class!). For the past couple of weeks, we have been offering 25+ outdoor classes and 25+ virtual classes per week and training in the outside areas of Evolutions. In addition, some amazing clients volunteered space on Ego Alley, which allows us to hold classes outdoors in a wonderful setting.

I could not be more grateful for the love and support that has been provided by our community.  After 3 months and 4 days, we will finally reopen the doors this Saturday at 7am.  The Evolutions community has been through a lot since March 16th, 2020 and I’m sure we still have some chapters to go in this story. I know that our community is slowly working its way forward and we are grateful to be part of the recovery.

Reopening

This Saturday will be the first step in the reopening process. You will find that we have something to offer everyone!  We are making sure that we respect those that want to maintain virtual training (Yes virtual classes will keep going!) and those that like the outdoors (yes those great outdoor classes will still be offered) and we will be ready for those eager to get back inside.  The overall business will look a little different, but I can assure you that we have a lot to offer and we have made major investments in the facility. We will not be charging any additional costs for the balance of June and we will be expanding our offering of classes and programs throughout the summer.
